Alekna and Fazekas in the 26th Vardinoyannia

The Discus event once more will be of high level at the “26 Vardinoyannia” meeting which will take place on Wednesday 7 July 2010 at 5:00 at the stadium of DAK Gallou “Pavlos I. Vardinoyannis”. EAR is announcing the participation of 8 great athletes in the Discus event.

The participation of two Greek athletes from EAR Spyro Arabatzi and the talented George Tremou, Apostolos Parellis fromCyprus, Virgilijus Alekna from Lithuania, the Hungarian Robert Fazekas , the American Rome Jarred, the Estonian Israel Mart and the Rumanian Sergie Ursu have been confirmed.

The event is scheduled to start at 18:25 p.m
 
Virgilijus Alekna
The Lithuanian Virgilijus Alekna was born on 13th February in 1972 and is one of the greatest athletes world wide in the Discus event. He has been a Silver medalist in Beijing and twice a Gold medalist (Athens in 204) and Sidney in 2000). His personal best is73.88. He has become twice a world championship in Helsinki in 2005 and in Paris in 2003.In the world championships in Edmonton (2001) and in Athens (1997) he took the Silver medal. In 2006 he was the champion in the European championships in Goteborg, in 2002 in Munich he took the Silver medal and in Budapest (1998) he took the Bronze medal. In Berlin (August 2009) he became the 4th World Championship.
 
 
Robert Fazekas
The Hungarian Robert Fazekas was born on 18 August in 1975 and his personal best is 71.70. His greatest moment was when he became the European Championship in Munich in 2002.In the following year he became the Silver Medalist in the World Championships in Pari Saint Denis. At the Olympic Games in Beijing he became the 8th winner.
 
Rome Jarred
The American Rome Jared was born o the 21 December in 1976 and his personal best is 68.44. His best moment was at the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 when he was the 8th winner. Last August in 2009 he was the 11th Champion in the World Championships in Berlin.
 
Israel Mart
The Estonian Israel Mart was born on 23 September 1983 and his personal best is 66.56
 
Sergie Ursu
The Rumanian Sergie Ursu was born on 26 April 1980 and his personal best is 64.74 in the open track. His most important moment was when he came 9th in the European Championships in Goteborg in 2006.
 
Spyros Arabatzis
Spyros Arabatzis was born on 2 June in 1978 and he is one of the top Greek champions. His personal best is 61.93.
 
Apostolos Parellis
Apostolos Parellis was born on 24 July in 1985 and his personal best is 60.94 in the open track. In 2007 in Duberstein he took the Bronze medal at the European Championships for athletes under 23 years old.
 
Giorgos Tremos
Giorgos Tremos is one of the talents that Greece has. He was born on 21 March in 1989. In 2005 he became the 6th World Champion at the Juniors World Championships in Marrakesh.
