P.Iakovakis and a lot of other Greek champions will be present at the “26th Vadinoyannia”

The best Greek champions will take part in the “26th Vardinoyannia” meeting which will be held on Wednesday 7 July at DAK Gallou stadium “Pavlos I. Vardinoyannis”. The organizing committee Enosi Atromitou Rethimniakou is pleased to announce the 35 Greek champions who will be competing on that day with the presence of Periklh Iakovakh who will give his last strong race before the European Championships.

A lot of great GreekAthletes will be present at the 26th Vardinoyannia meeting which is held in memory of the politician Pavlos I. Vardinoyannis, such as the champion in 110m. Hurdles Kostas Douvalidis (who is an athlete of EAR), as well as the champions Christina Xatzi-Neag, Maria Karastamati, Afroditi Skafida.

 
This year the meeting will be characterized by the Greek participation since the Greek athletes will be coming from all over Crete and Rethymno.
 
Periklhs Iakovakhs
The Greek champion at 400m. Hurdles Periklis Iakovakis was born on 24th March in 1979 and his personal best is 47.82 (which is a Greek record in 400m Hurdles). Iakovakis’ best moment was when he won the European championships in 2006 in Goteborg. A great moment in his career was when he became a Bronze medalist in the World Championship in 2003 in Paris. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he came 8th. Last summer he was the 5th Championship in Berlin with 48.42. Last Sunday in Thessaloniki he won the race with 49.57.
 
KostasDouvalidis
The Greek champion at 110m. Hurdles Kostas Douvalidis was born on 10 March 1987 and his personal best is 13.46 which he achieved in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. Kostas Douvalidis who is at the peak of his career since he has achieved great distinctions at the Junior Championship. Douvalidis came 2nd in Super League in 2007 and became the champion at the European Juniors championships in Duberstein. He was also the Silver medalist at the European Juniors championships in 2005 in Kaunas and a Bronze medalist at the Juniors championships 2006 in Beijing.
